The Netscape Project - Roadmap

Project will be finished in several phases.

1. phase (finished until 7. dec. 1998): identifying places in (Netscape) source code
for registering events of interest. The following event actions will be dealt with:
       - visiting a page
       - saving a whole page
       - saving a part of a page (image or other object)
       - printing
       - following links from a page
       - copy
       - bookmarking
       - custom dialog for page ranking

2. phase (till 15. dec. 1998): Writing a TCP/IP interface for delivering IP packets
to HOT board over the Net. One custom IP delivery procedure will be written, together with
a small TCP/IP server (HOT board simulator) for debugging purposes.

3. phase (till 18. dec. 1998): Inserting additional code for triggering IP packets delivery.

4. phase (till 25. dec. 1998): Implementing automatic configuration (i.e. Registry for Win95+/NT) and some
user interface, if needed.

After these 4 phases we will have modified Netscape that communicates with a HOT board simulator.
There is a vague possibility of implementing all these modifications within a plug-in.
Our preliminary investigations showed little hope that this could be done.

add'l phases:
- resolve links local to current page
- don't send actions (to Obelix server) which aren't active
(etc. following dead link, saving an image that is not present)
